The annual Irmo International Festival, April 26, 2020, has sadly been cancelled
but the
ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL ART and POETRY COMPETITIONS will still be held.

This is a great opportunity to use your imagination to create beautiful and uplifting artwork and/or poetry, which will be featured in our competition galleries to be set up when life is back to normal in our community.

Categories & prize money for ‘each’ competition

Division 1: Kindergarten to Grade 2 (1st prize $50; 2nd prize $35; 3rd prize $20)
Division 2: Grade 3 to Grade 5 (1st prize $50; 2nd prize $35; 3rd prize; $20)
Division 3: Grade 6 to Grade 8 (1st prize $75; 2nd prize $50; 3rd prize; $30)
Division 4: Grade 9 to Grade 12 (1st prize $100; 2nd prize $75; 3rd prize; $50)

GUIDELINES

Art Competition, 2020

Step 1: Use your imagination to create wonderful art, based on ONE of the competition themes, listed above.
Dimensions for your artwork: poster no larger than 8.5 X 11 inches
Step 2: Complete all sections of the competition entry form (last page of this
packet) and attach it to the back of your artwork.
Step 3: Submit your artwork by placing it in the ‘Festival Art Competition’ box at
the entrance to the Greater Irmo Chamber of Commerce building,
1235 Columbia Avenue, Irmo, SC, 29063,
between 10am-6pm on Friday, May 8
A member of the committee will be there to receive entries (at a distance).

Prizes: 

Your artwork will be eligible for entry and cash prizes in TWO distinguished local art competitions. Each competition will be judged separately!

    1. The Irmo International Art Competition

    2. Interfaith Partners of SC (IPSC), Peace in the Park Art Competition (Fall, 2020)

GUIDELINES

Poetry Competition, 2020

Step 1: Use your imagination to create wonderful poetry, based on ONE of the competition themes, listed above.    

Poem must have 20 lines or less and focus on a theme rather than on rhyme.  

The poem should display originality and creativity, use imagery, style and use a good selection of words.  Punctuation should enhance the poem’s tone and the structure should enhance clarity of the author’s voice.   

Type (14 font size Times Roman) or handwrite (be sure it is legible).

Step 2: Complete all sections of the competition entry form (last page of this packet) and attach it to the back of your poetry.

Step 3: Submit your poetry by placing it in the ‘Festival Poetry Competition’ box at the entrance to the Greater Irmo Chamber of Commerce building,
